Project - Take​​​ Flight : International Kite Festival

Client - NTUC Income & Act 3 International

A school assignment to create a promotional campaign for NTUC Income & Act 3 International to garner awareness for this Festival as well as to generate continual interest for it while the Festival is on‐going.

CONCEPT - 

There is always a feeling of amazement and wonder looking at kites flying in the wind and the beautiful scenery of kites decorating the sky. We as people have always thought of ways to fly, from creating the aeroplanes, hot air balloons and hang gliders. Where stories of kite enthusiast and inventors in the past creating kites that could lift a person up into the sky are all listed down in history. 

Dive in and travel around the world to learn more about the different kites name and which/what kite does it represent it's country. A tale of history about the kites where International Kiters coming together giving some insight talks about everything that is related to kites and how it have evolved through the years. 

An event showcasing traditional and modern kites. Which there will be a live demonstration and kite workshop booths on how different kites being made, handled and flying for novices to pick up on the interest of kites. A festival that is very colourful, engaging and a wide range of activities related/non-related to kites to celebrate international kites around the world (traditional food,arts,performances)

TARGET AUDIENCE - All ages.

It'll be a good family bonding and any occasion outings as there will be a lot of visuals and even hands on activity on kite making to learn and get some knowledge about the origins of the kites since not everyone even the adults know about where/which kite does it comes from. Where it will be engaging and interesting event for anyone who is new/old to kites. There will also be other performances that is not kite related to get the event going.

Project - New Hawker Heroes 

We know hawker centers exist for a reason. Who wouldn't want cheap, good and healthy foods? We realise that many devoted hawker heroes are retiring in the near future and fresh blood is desperately in need to keep Singapore hawker culture alive. There are already young hawker entrepreneurs surfacing in today's Singapore food courts.
 

But is that really enough?

CONCEPT - Dive Into Modernity

In CHOPE (guidebook), we dive in to find out of the modernity new

and young entrepreneurs incorporate in our hawker culture and food. 

Singaporeans are obsessed with food, from talking incessantly

about our last meal, to feverishly photographing, critiquing and posting about it online. It's hardly surprising-food is one of Singapore's greatest 

drawcords, the nation's melting pot of cultures creating one of the world's most diverse, drool-inducing culinary landscapes. 

Bringing together the best in local food and atmosphere is an enjoyable open air setting. Hawker centres are a unique aspect of Singaporean culture. Located all over the island, many in the heartlands, there-tasted institutions have served as an important places for community bonding.

PRODUCT - Guidebook.

- Focus on the food presentation of the newer generation's food

- How the newer generation would want to incorporate their modern ideas to improve the hawker culture

- More applicable to the young adults that make them interested to be involved in the hawker culture

- Without removing the authenticity of the food

Project - Young Designers In The Making : Things young designers need to know

In this new day and age of technology. Where there is a severe lack of self-expression or motivation, many students have no avenues to explore their untapped skills. While living in a world where we are taught that only 2+2=4. We can change this stigma as there are other means of solving a problem. Example, undeniable 2+2=4. But remember that 5-1 and 3+1 does have the same equivalent value. Therefore, the aim is to activate creative thinking, innovation and the application of new ideas in their leaning by providing the opportunity to build, create, design, and play.

CONCEPT - CREARTIVITY ; Create. Art. Activity

"Design Thinking" is a methodology that draws upon 6 key points; Collaboration, Generating Ideas, Empathy, Prototyping, Risk Taking and Embracing Failure, whereby "CREARTIVITY" will be introducing an activity books to kids encouraging problem-based learning and developing of critical thinking skills. 

Get kids to activate their creative thinking minds through stories which would help them in sharpening their skills, have a deeper understanding of problems through empathy and also to get their creative ways going by being involved with the story that would create a tangible way to engage with the ideas, to try it out. 

CREATIVE THINKING THROUGH STORIES :

- EMPATHY

Through stories to get them understand the situation that the character is facing and to help the character to solve the problem. 

- MOTORSKILLS, POP-UPS

To get their creative ways going by being involved with the story that would create a tangible way to engage and to try it out.

- IMAGINATION

How observant they are towards the story and their surroundings to get involved in the activities. 

TARGET AUDIENCE - Gradeschooler : 6-9 years old

Should feel confident in their ability to meet the challenges. The sense of personal power evolves from having successful life experiences in solving problems independently, being creative and getting results for their efforts.

Bottle Label

I've designed 4 different Smoozè's label. Each of them have their very own theme and color to represent the fruits. Something simple and straight forward.

Bottle Packaging ; Smoozè

- "Smoozè" (Smoo-zie) is a brand that I came up with which is a Fruit smoothie. It's something fun and bright in terms of the design. That includes the packaging holder which is easy to carry and a very playful design that shows the different types of smoothie that they have.

Finding the perfect Logo 

I wanted the symbol to be more tropical, colourful and fun since the brand "Smoozè" have fruits in it. Hence, this is the transformation of the symbol and the typography to compliment each other and to match with my ideal concept for the brand itself.

I've created cute characters to symbolise different fruits and they are designed in a cute way by wearing a cap that represents each fruits that Smoozè have to offer  ; Strawberry, Banana, Kiwi and Grape.

Layout ; Packaging box carrier 

The layout of my packaging box carrier is going to be in a form of a carton carrier where there will be a divider in the middle. The box carrier it's not something typical which is just a straight square box shape. It's something different and fun to compliment the design.

As for the design I played around with the fruits and the characters together to make it more playful and cheerful.
